Welcome to Ohio English Setter Rescue
Ohio English Setter Rescue is a group of people who love English Setters. We want to give back just some of what they have given so freely to us: Care and love. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit rescue.
We would like to thank Northstar Animal Care, OESR's sponsoring veterinary clinic. Click the link to visit their website. Please be sure to thank them for providing excellent care for our dogs at a price we can afford.

Our rescue is based on showing love and decency, not only to the dogs we try to help, but to the people involved as well. We believe in community, and caring for the dogs, and more importantly, to the people around us.

Adoptable Dogs
These are dogs that have been taken in by our rescue. They are in all different stages, i.e. just arrived, in foster care and ready to go, etc. Please be aware that we try and evaluate our dogs in a foster home for a couple of weeks, so that we are able to make the best determination on what kind of home would be best for them. If you are interested in a dog, you may need to be patient until they are fully evaluated and vetted. This is for your benefit as well as the dogs, as we want our placements to be permanent ones. Please be aware that our role is as an advocate for the DOG, and making sure they go to the right home where they will thrive.
All of our dogs are vetted before adoption. They are given any needed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if positive. Any medical or behavioural issues are attended to, or disclosed to any potential adopter if the treatment is ongoing. We have provided orthopedic surgery, cancer surgery, behavioural assessments from the director of the behavioural unit at Ohio State University. We provide top notch vet care for our dogs. Our vet is Northstar animal care. We are proud of our vets and their reputation in a city that has one of the top veterinary medical schools in the country. All of our vet care is based on sound, solid research for being necessary. We do not subject our dogs to any care that is NOT recommended by our veterinarians.
You NEED to read the adoption page before filling out an application. The page will pop up when you hit the link to take you to the application. THERE IS NOW A 10.00 FEE per APPLICATION payable via paypal link this fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt.
We do not guarantee adoption to anyone. We are very thorough about our adoption process, as we are committed to sending our dogs to homes where they will stay and be loved and provided for for the rest of their lives. That is our only goal. Adopting a dog is a big commitment of time, love and money.

Our Volunteers
These fine people are the folks who make Ohio English Setter work. Without them to foster our dogs that await adoption, transport them around and even adopt a dog or two themselves, none of this would work!

Member Stories
We asked some of our volunteers to submit articles for the website. Everyone has an adoption or fostering story and most have more than one. We thought it might be helpful to see others' experiences from various points of view.
