Duke-

Duke our older gentleman  found a wonderful home as a senior.  Instead of being euthanized in a cold shelter on a concrete floor, he lived the last year or so of his life living in a home with a dad who loved him dearly!  Duke recently succumbed to cancer but he left this world in a home and with a human to hold him and see him on his way. Duke deserved a soft place to land, he didn't deserve to die alone in a shelter just because he got older.  Thank you Phil.

This is from Duke's new dad:

Duke is doing great! He is now eating as he should. I think those first few days were just a period of adjustment to his new home. He now roams the house like he owns it. Duke even goes up and down the stairs now. He and the cat even lay on the sofa together at times. He really loves his walks and is making friends with the other dogs in the neighborhood. Today, for the first time, he stopped and locked on to birds and squirrels when he saw them in peoples' yards! The little boy next door comes over each evening to play with Duke when we are out in the yard. This is a double bonus since Bannon was frightened of all dogs until he met one as calm and friendly as Duke. I take Duke to work with me some afternoons and he is the star of the whole building. When people hear that he's there they come from all over to see him!

Duke is a genius!  Check out his pictures.  He figured out ASAP that to get the treats out of that ball he needed to wedge it against the table to steady it.  Good boy!  He is always making his foster mom laugh with his antics.
