While Winston may have not had such a great start in life, it hasn’t put one blemish on his kind soul. A truly unique setter, Winston is one of four setters from Kentucky kept in kennels and uncared for, arriving into rescue filthy and used to being chained. His uniqueness comes from the fact that despite his lack of care he seems well socialized, people friendly, and has had only one accident in the house since his arrival into foster care. He is gentle with everyone he meets, including other dogs, cats, and kids. He has an expression that makes you want to hug him all day, and wonderful, soulful eyes. Winston has the best bark—a deep, throaty double bark. He plays with toys in the yard, but mostly likes to lay at your feet wherever you are, or find a comfy dog pillow to curl up in. Approximately 6 years old, Winston has some arthritis in his hip, which he receives medication for, and is somewhat hearing impaired. None of this stops him from bounding around the yard in a happy dog romp. He does hear a whistle quite well, and now recognizes his name. He can be trusted in the house and has been left uncrated by his foster parents while they are at work (6 hours) with no incident. He is the consummate companion dog who likes to be petted, puts his head in your lap, and loves to be hugged. He settles into the house routine easily, like he has always been there. He will need a very special home willing to take care of his needs and one that wants to experience the kind, loving and gentle spirit of a setter who has kept his dignity through it all!
Winston
Winston went from being a filthy unloved dog used as a hunting tool to a much loved member of his foster home's family. They have decided to make his stay there permanent!! He gets along great with all of the dogs in his family, and he is definitely a daddy's boy!
Congratulations Winston! He makes his home in Pennsylvania
